**About Student and Scholarly Services (SASS)**
Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation. This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.

**About the Role**
The Discovery Manager ensures discovery and access of University of Melbourne scholarly resources by overseeing library systems and the team that supports these. The Discovery Manager facilitates solutions to issues of access for our students and academics as well as contributing to strategic planning and business process management, with a strong User Experience focus.

Responsibilities include:

- Contribute to negotiations and facilitate strong working relationships with both internal IT sections and external library system vendors to ensure quality cost-effective digital service delivery, in collaboration with other team leaders, service delivery managers and Associate Director, Collection Development and Access
- Manage a team responsible for ensuring that library systems deliver an effective service to clients, including staff development strategies
- Take a leadership and management role within the Collection Development and Access section, including the development and implementation of strategic, operational and project plans in relation to library systems

This role is a unique opportunity to lead a strong library systems team in implementing seamless discovery pathways to scholarly resources for academics and students for teaching, learning and research purposes.

**About You**
You will be a strong communicator with the interpersonal skills to communicate key strategies, engage stakeholders and build collaborative partnerships. Your customer focus will be supported by your project management and leadership skills ensuring you can guide the Discovery team and manage your own priorities. Problem solving is a demonstrated interest and skill.

You will also have:

- A postgraduate qualification in a relevant field with extensive relevant operational experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Proven leadership skills and experience with cross functional teams, including preparing presentations and documentation for strategic planning, such as reports or briefing papers
- Indepth knowledge of managing systems for the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums) sector
- Familiarity with principles and practice of customer focused methodologies, especially regarding user pathways to digital content
