**About the opportunity**

This is a temporary, full-time for a period of 12 months where you will be working within our Environment section and will be responsible for ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.

Your role as an Environmental Health Officer is critical in providing local places and spaces that are clean and healthy and turning awareness and commitment into action to halt or reserve the effects, pressures and threats on the built and natural environment by working in collaboration with our community and other stakeholders.

This will be done through developing and participating in the implementation of projects, strategies, policies, guidelines and procedures that align with this commitment, specifically environmental health.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Relevant degree-level qualifications in an environmental health or related field
- Sound knowledge of and solid experience in current environmental health issues and experience in the development of strategies and policies related to the environmental health field of work
- Current class c driver's licence.

**Desirable**:

- Relevant Local Government experience
- Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills.

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,599.52 per week
- 35-hour working week
- Car allowance
- Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
