We are currently looking for **Community Ranger** on a full-time/temporary basis working 38 hours per week hours on a rotational roster (no weekends needed). This position is a level 6 which ranges from **$41 - $48 an hour base rate**. The assignment will be until **22 March 2024**, and we are looking for an immediate start. As this is for leave coverage, in the event that the staff member decides or requests to return from leave early we will need to end the arrangement early.
**Location**:South Perth**

**Role Purpose**:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide a high-quality customer service to the City's residents and visitors while promoting compliance with various Acts of Parliament, Local Laws and Council Procedures and Policies relevant to the local community. Additionally, the position plays a proactive role in the provision of community education in regards to the City's services, properties and role within the community.
**Key accountabilities**:

- Patrol throughout City and identify any areas of non-compliance to relevant local laws and

regulations;
- Monitor non-compliance situations and issue infringement notices as required.
- Undertake inspections of various premises and areas to assess compliance issues,
- Offer information, training and support to the community to ensure compliance within the City.
- Prepare and serve Summons and attend court as necessary.
- Perform confidential deliveries of Council Agendas and other documentation as required by the Coordinator Ranger Services.
- Respond to general enquiries from ratepayers, residents and the general public.
- Provide after-hours call-out response to community as approved by the Senior Ranger.
- Conduct patrols throughout the City and issue infringement notices for acts of noncompliance with Local Laws, relevant legislation and regulations as required, including but not limited to, the areas of Parking, Animal Control, Fire Breaks and Litter.
- Inspect ticket parking machines daily to ensure operational status.
- Document actions in response to inspections, enquiries and complaints, maintain registers and prepare routine statements and reports as required by the Senior Ranger.
- Prepare dog attack reports.
- Prepare media / advertisements for Peninsula and The Southern Gazette.
- Arrange, compile and respond to correspondence on all relevant areas.
- Under the direction of the Senior Ranger, maintain and update a procedure manual at all Ranger activities as required.

**Requirements of the Job**:

- Certificate IV Local Government (Regulatory Services) **_(desirable)_****:

- Familiarity with local government practice including delivery of awareness programs **_(desirable)_****:

- Current Senior First Aid/Applied First Aid Certificate **_(desirable)_****:

- Satisfactory completion of Year 10 or equivalent
- ROCS 1 & ROCS 2 or equivalent
- Well-developed customer service skills with demonstrated ability to facilitate conflict resolution.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- A high standard of public relations and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in interpretation and enforcement of relevant Acts and Local Laws
- Experience in Ranger related duties
- Experience in animal handling
- Current “C” Class West Australian Drivers License
