The Department for Education is establishing a school mental health service to assist in the management of student mental health concerns. The Principal Mental Health Practitioner will take a lead role in establishing and supporting the quality and safety of the service.

The position is a statewide role which provides leadership and contributes to a clinical governance framework for the school mental health service pilot, including service design and guiding the development of relevant policies, procedures and guidelines. The Principal Mental Health Practitioner will also ensure appropriate professional supervision and support is available for the AHP3 school mental health practitioners, who will be recruited to deliver the service in selected schools.

The Principal Mental Health Practitioner will be appropriately credentialed and experienced in provision of clinical supervision in supervising professionals in their discipline area. Experience in service and system design for child and youth mental health will be highly valued in this role.

We are looking for Principal Practitioners to contribute to the development of a new mental health service in selected secondary schools. To be considered for this exciting role, you must be appropriately credentialed in one of a range of discipline areas, including Psychology, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy, have significant experience working with children and young people with mental health concerns and providing clinical supervision to school mental health practitioners

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:
A Bachelor qualification or specialist/post graduate qualification where applicable in:

- Social Work
- Occupational Therapy
- Psychology
- Full registration with the requisite professional body where applicable (ie AHPRA)
- Social Work applicants must be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
- Approved supervisor with appropriate registration board
- Psychology Board of Australia
- Occupational Therapy Board approved supervisor
- Social Work - training and experience in the delivery of clinical supervision

**Special Conditions**:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.
