We are looking for a seasoned sourcing & Strategy manager for our client, Australian government owned telecom company, for a 3 to 6 months contract in Melbourne CBD.

Reporting to the Procurement manager - you will be responsible for development and execution of category strategies; planning and conducting medium to high level complexity and value negotiations; managing end to end sourcing transactions; providing detailed and commercially astute analysis; and leading and influencing senior management stakeholders.

**Roles and responsibilities include but not limited to**:

- Communicating with stakeholders and influencing business decisions
- Business acumen and identifying and implementing strategy with marketplace insights Driving collaboration and innovation with key supplier partners.
- Develop, define, and manage a procurement plan and activities (re-prioritise as required) to meet objectives & customer satisfaction.
- Input and support category management plans
- Maintain knowledge of the market dynamics, suppliers, cost drivers, trends, and program requirements to develop and execute commercial responses for assigned projects.
- Drive competitive strategic sourcing initiatives, including sourcing strategy, supplier selection, tender preparation, tender management, evaluation, and contract negotiation in collaboration with business stakeholders and support (legal, risk, HSE, security).
- Conduct complex negotiations and resolve conflicting positions to mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Effectively implement on boarding of suppliers, ensuring alignment to business partner objectives, driving strong procurement outcomes

**Skills and Experience required for the role**:

- Proven commercial acumen and experience of developing and executing category management and strategic sourcing strategies, tendering, negotiations, contract management, supplier performance management and supplier relationship management.
- Proven experience in a Procurement or supply chain commercial function.
- Degree qualified in Commerce, Finance, Engineering, IT or a business-related field.
- Relevant experience with supply contracts and support arrangements for highly engineered business-critical equipment in telco or related industries
- Comprehensive understanding of the principles, practices, theories, and concepts of Procurement (category management, strategic sourcing, supplier performance and relationship management, procure to payment processing)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and by structuring and writing documents and presentations.
- Proven ability to build relationships and consistently engage with stakeholders to maintain a customer and delivery focus.
- Ariba experience preferred.
