**Role**:
The Leading Teacher - Careers and Pathways at Truganina Secondary School (interim name) primary focus is to:

- Lead the Careers/Pathways program to be consistent with DET standards in the implementation of the Victorian Curriculum ensuring high expectations, relevance, challenge and engagement for all students.
- Lead and manage career and pathway education across the College - Years 7-12
- Contribute to the provision of high-level leadership and support for the achievement, wellbeing and engagement of all staff and students
- Foster a positive learning climate and culture of high expectations, challenge and engagement
- Work with the Principal and School Improvement Leadership teams to support teachers in quality instruction, curriculum planning, and implementation. This may involve coaching and mentoring.
- Work in collaboration with the Principal Team and Subschool Teams to support students with pathways and engagement.
- Lead and facilitate opportunities for staff and students to connect with and contribute to the wider Truganina North Secondary School (Interim name) community.
- Provide counselling services for students and parents in relation to tertiary and TAFE education information including prerequisites, open days, scholarship programs and fee structures, including:

- Manage rollout of VTAC information and implementation
- Organising career events such as expos, excursions, tertiary visits and guest speakers.
- Form key partnerships with tertiary providers, education institutions, networks and employers.
- Be an active participant in the leading of learning and undertake a teaching commitment
- Contribute to the overall management of the school
- The Leading Teacher reports directly to the Principal.

**The Leading Teacher role will commence in Term 1, 2024.**

**Responsibilities**:
In recognition of the importance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the leading teachers may include but are not limited to:

- Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and school priorities
- Leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery;
- Leading and managing the provision of professional development and developing individual and team development plans for teaching staff within the priorities of the school;
- Leading and managing staff performance and development (review of staff);
- Teaching demonstration lessons;
- Leading and managing the development of the school's assessment and reporting policies and practices;
- Leading and managing the implementation of the school operations and policies related to student welfare and discipline;
- Leading the development of curriculum in a major learning area and participating in curriculum development in other areas;
- Responsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teachers
