**What you do**:
The Risk & Compliance Lead for Health reports to the Head of Product and Underwriting - Health and is responsible to own and drive the 1st line Risk function in the Health line of business.

The team member will focus their attention on the end-to-end Health line of business which includes student and visitor health products for overseas travel to Australia.

**Your key responsibilities include**:

- Lead the Risk and Compliance 1st line function for the Health business including maintenance of the Obligations Register, related controls and any actions to improve, including coordinating this activity across the end-to-end Health business.
- Promoting and developing a postive risk culture within the Health business..
- Support the creation and collection of appropriate information and documentation to support annual governance, risk, and compliance attestations to support the Executive Head of Health.
- Design and implement, in conjunction with the second line risk and compliance functions, a first line assurance program across the Health business.
- Actively manage any incidents identifies in the Health business and determine if they are Risk, Legal or Compliance issues or other matters and report appropriately based on classification.
- Work collaboratively with the Health business and 2nd Line Risk and Compliance teams to immediately manage steps to be undertaken to identify and mitigate incidents; inclusive of:

- Commencing initial incident investigation;
- Implementing immediate incident fixes to reduce both customer and business impact;
- Determining root cause of the incident and liaising with other business function areas to identify reasons for; and frequency of occurrences;
- Assist with any Risk or Compliance control strengthening requirements to prevent reoccurrence;
- Provide support on corrective business actions or risk mitigation strategies; and
- Provide technical knowledge on operational processes, procedures, and business initiatives.
- Documenting and maintaining the LOB’s Risk Register and Compliance obligations
- Report all risk and compliance issues relating to Health to your reporting manager and 2nd Line Risk and Compliance functions, articulating how effective the existing processes/controls are in managing operational or compliance risks and any immediate actions to be taken to address.
- Support the reporting of risk and compliance topics to various forums including to the Compliance Committee, Risk Committee, Australian Executive team and local Board.
- Mentoring of a Risk & Compliance Officer as well as partnering with the Product Lead within the team to evolve and drive a strong and effective risk culture within the Health business.
- Provide thought leadership regarding new processes or controls to meet emerging risks for your business that may impact upon the Health business.
- Support project and business initiatives, as required, including leading, where appropriate, regulatory change topics as they relate to the Health business.
- Experience in a Risk related role within Insurance and/or Financial services.
- A relevant Corporate Risk based qualification would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of 1st line or 2nd line risk
- Project planning and management skills.
- Knowledge of local legislative and regulatory requirements for the Health LOB and the impact of non-compliance.
- Aptitude for analysis, investigations and problem solving.
- Good Oral and written communication skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement working collaboratively and effectively across all levels of the organization, with a mature ability to drive progress and influence all stakeholders.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experiences in Office Applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
