**Role**:
This position is required to perform a number of duties, under direction of teaching staff at Keilor Downs College.

The Food Technology Assistant will be expected to:

- provide friendly and helpful assistance to staff and students
- prioritise and manage work demands
- communicate effectively with a range of people
- work as part of the Food Technology team to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and professional manner
- attend meetings and professional development activities appropriate to the position

An Education Support position supports the educational services being provided to students but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the _Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic)_ or its successor. Supervision of students can be required, individually or in groups up to 4 in controlled circumstances and where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:
**Duties**:

- Ensure all foodstuffs are prepared and available for student use, in demonstrations and practical classes. This may include the thawing, slicing, measuring, sorting and other preparation of foodstuffs
- Assist with setting up equipment and instrumentation for use in demonstration and class practice
- Ensure work areas and materials, equipment and appliances are maintained in a clean and ready to use condition eg. fridges, ovens, stoves, benches etc
- Assist with clearing away equipment and materials after use and checking that they are maintained in a safe, clean and ready to use condition
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of food preparation and food services items
- Complete the purchase and delivery of weekly shopping as required
- Check supplies are available for practical classes for the week ahead, and advise teaching staff if further purchases are necessary. Recheck the day prior to the practical class to ensure all required ingredients are to hand.
- Check deliveries and store appropriately
- Ensure storage areas are in a clean, safe and orderly condition
- Assist with catering
- Maintain department linen eg. wash, fold, store
- Perform other duties appropriate to the classification to assist in the effective delivery of services

Days and hours of attendance are:
Wednesday 10.00am to 5.00pm (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunchbreak),

Friday 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

Attendance is not required during school holidays.

School holidays are paid.
