Key Outcomes and Accountabilities

**The aim of this role is to**:

- Lead the development, implementation, and ongoing review and reporting of QBCC's Risk Management Framework, Governance Framework, Business Continuity Framework and Delegations Framework including making proposals for its continual improvement.
- Oversee the preparation of timely, accurate and succinct reporting on corporate governance and risk issues, sometimes at short notice, including advice for the Senior Leadership Team, Directors, QBC Board, the Queensland Parliament, other central agencies, and oversight bodies.
- Advise QBCC Senior Leadership Team and management on contemporary risk management and governance issues, approaches, and trends.
- Manage QBCC's secretariat functions (including scheduling and administrative support for meetings, managing the agendas and meeting packs, minute-taking, and follow-up action items) for the QBC Board in carrying out its statutory functions, including advising on risk and governance best practice, the development of annual work plans, its interactions with stakeholders, and the induction and ongoing support requirements of Board members.

- Lead and manage the risk and governance staff, including ensuring that team members have a safe working environment, meet their performance goals, and have a team culture that is consistent with QBCC's values.

- High level knowledge of contemporary approaches to risk management, ideally in a public service context, and of corporate and board governance.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continual improvement in an organisation and its approach to risk management.
- Team leadership and management skills, including the following demonstratable skills in previous work roles: a commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, the ability to guide and develop staff as a high performing team, staff performance management and appropriate tasking to ensure balanced workloads while delivering results.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive relationships with team members, other staff, and stakeholders by developing effective networks, consulting, negotiating, and collaborating to achieve results.
- Strong experience in risk management and governance (GRC) software implementation and usage.
- Previous experience as a Company Secretary, and/or work or recognised credentials in governance, risk, and compliance management role, is highly regarded.
