About the role
As the Principal Governance Officer, you will be responsible for engaging with management and staff to embed a contemporary and effective risk management program, with accountability for overseeing and providing objective advice for the assessment, identification, and mitigation of risk across the organisation.
You will lead the ongoing development and management of an effective risk framework, including a formal risk appetite statement, a risk policy and procedure, Risk Registers, risk reporting processes, and a risk training curriculum, which promote the identification and control of fraud and are integrated with the overall governance program and planning activities.
About you
- Extensive knowledge and experience in leading and managing the development and implementation of good governance practices and processes in a large public sector organisation, particularly in relation to risk management.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to consider relevant and complex evidence in the coordination and preparation of appropriate risk responses and implementation plans.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to initiate and drive continuous improvement.
- Commitment and success in planning, implementing, reviewing, and managing changes of varying complexity and scope within a large complex organisation.
- Advanced negotiation, consultation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and promote understanding of complex issues, and confidently represent the service at meetings and forums.
