About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated digital communications professional to join a high-performing team in a fast-paced and varied role.
The primary purpose of the Digital Assistant is to assist and contribute to the digital communications for the department. This includes contributing to social media, websites, the intranet and our newsletters and eDMs. The role also monitors and maintains these channels to ensure they are accurate and fit for purpose. It also provides hands on support to help align channels and products to digital standards.
The role works closely with other teams in the Communications Division, helping to implement communication plans, strategies and campaigns.
The role also actively participates in a broad range of communication tasks, events and activities to support the delivery of the Division's work. Ad hoc after-hours work will be required
About the division
The Communications Division leads, shapes and supports communication of Victorian Government priorities for early childhood development and school education. The Division is responsible for taking carriage of the Government's Education State vision by engaging with Victorians on education issues and services. The Division tells these stories through media relations, internal and external communications, branding, digital channels, public affairs and event management.
About the department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
The Department's responsibilities cover two overlapping stages of life:

- Early childhood development (birth to eight) - covering health, learning and development services
- School education (five to eighteen) - covering primary, secondary and special school services for children and young people from Prep to Year 12
