**What you'll be doing**:
Join NBMLHD Genetic Services in this permanent full-time position as a Genetics Counsellor, Level 3. This position will be expected to work on a multi-faceted approach to genetics counselling with mínimal supervision from a Clinical Geneticist.
We are looking for an experienced counsellor to provide comprehensive genetic counselling to individuals and families with a genetic disorder, or a problem in growth and development that may have a genetic basis, including the:
- Collection of family and medical histories to allow for the chance of disease occurrence or recurrence to be assessed.
- Education about inheritance, testing, management, perception, resources and research.
- Counselling to promote informed choices and adaptation to the risk or condition.
- An eligibility list may be created for future vacancies.

**Selection criteria to be addressed**:
- Relevant undergraduate degree with post graduate qualification in genetic counselling or have attained Part 1 certification in genetics counselling from the Human Genetics Society of Australasia
- Have obtained HGSA certification in genetic counselling (Part II), or working towards obtaining Part II certification or holds a relevant higher degree or qualification
- Has extensive experience in providing Genetic Counselling while working in a Clinical Genetics unit seeing things of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in the provision of comprehensive genetic counselling for prenatal and general genetics with mínimal direct supervision
- Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills and ability to prioritise, work to deadlines and operate with a high degree of autonomy
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with proven excellent interaction with colleagues at all levels in the health field
- Demonstrated ability to provide senior level of supervision and mentoring to staff and/or students
- Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical services to enhance service delivery
