**Western Power’s role in the energy transition**

We are at the forefront of the energy transition and as part of our commitment to enabling a cleaner energy future we established our new Energy Transition and Sustainability business unit in 2023.

Within this recently established business unit, an exciting new function named Transmission Energy Transition has been created, which is dedicated to transmission expansion. Within this function we are striving to deliver exceptional value through focusing on new capabilities in transmission social and environmental performance.

**About the role**

Your next opportunity as a Environmental Performance Team Leader is within our newly created Social Performance team, at our Perth Office is on a Permanent Full-Time basis.

You will be leading a team of professionals who develop and implement best practice approaches in environmental approvals and management for Western Power’s transmission energy transition projects. The position is critical to provide leadership and technical review to the team on the environmental approvals, management, and assurance activities, by clearly identifying environmental and heritage requirements associated with the work program and influencing external stakeholders to secure strategic environment statutory approvals and requirements for future growth, development, and protection of the network. It is also instrumental in gaining support from other areas of the business to enhance stakeholder engagement and Western Power’s reputation.
- Provide effective leadership, continuously improve the competence, capability, and professionalism of the Western Power workforce through training, education, support, development, reward, and coaching.
- Identify workforce training needs and develop and oversee the delivery of appropriate environment, heritage and planning training.
- Establishing and communicating environmental, planning and heritage awareness and responsibilities and manage communication of related developments to the Western Power workforce.
- Represent Western Power at internal and external engagement sessions. Develop and manage relationships with external environment, heritage and planning and infrastructure stakeholders to ensure the appropriate placement of our network assets, in consideration of our objectives.
- Provide high level professional advice and guidance regarding the development of Western Power strategy to ensure the effective and efficient management of environment, heritage and planning matters.
- Develop, execute and continuous improvement of environmental transmission programs ensuring that these are aligned to overall business requirements and outcomes.
- Influence the development and prioritisation of Western Power’s transmission network plans, to acquit our regulatory obligations and agreements.
- Support the business to ensure environmental requirements are considered as part of any participative and integrated SEQT impact assessment and any environmental incident / non-compliance.
- Manage and monitor the utilisation of assigned budgets and resources in consideration of affordable outcomes for our customers.
- Manage and monitor environmental systems and data in consideration of Western Power’s objectives.

**About you**
- Bachelor’s degree qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Urban and Regional Planning or related discipline.
- Substantial leadership experience having managed and developed high performing teams.
- Solid experience and knowledge in setting strategy, planning, and leading strategic and business change.
- Substantial experience that highlights strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Forecasting, planning and resource management experience, including budget management.
- 10+ years of experience working in infrastructure, construction, maintenance and operational field practices or other technically based industries with complex operational safety, environmental, approval and community issues.
- Sound experience in the development of regional and local planning schemes and SEQT and/ or community impact assessments.
- Exceptional and demonstrated stakeholder management, influencing, and partnering skills.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and written skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, influence outcomes, negotiate and speak in public forums where stakeholders have opposing interests.
- Demonstrated work management and delivery skills with the ability to prioritise outcomes to meet strict deadlines and work and work with mínimal supervision.
