The NFSA is looking for a highly motivated, experienced Collection Management team leader with a significant depth of format knowledge, partnered with supervision and administrative skills to strategically contribute to the Collection Management Team and management structure. The Team Leader leads the Collection Management Team and coordinates legacy collection projects, ensuring the program meets the strategic objectives of the NFSA.

In undertaking your duties, you will liaise with NFSA staff from various teams across the organisation and external clients. As the collection is mainly stored in several sites in Canberra, you will be required to travel between these locations regularly.

Vital to the role is a firm understanding and knowledge of collection storage and archiving practices, collection handling and auditing principles. Proven experience in working with collection management systems and advanced computer skills is also important. Effective time and staff management partnered with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, drive, and a flexible approach to working in a challenging environment are key attributes to achieving the expected outcomes of this exciting role.

**About the Team**

The Collection Management Team comprises two sub-teams: Collection Security and Collection Services. Collection Management staff undertake a broad range of operational activities ensuring the National Collection is accessible, audited and stored in accordance with established standards to ensure its preservation for perpetuity. Under broad direction, the Collection Management Team Leader oversees the functions of the Collection Security and Collection Services teams, participates in management and team meetings, provides advice and recommendations, and prepare a range of statistics and reports.

The Team is situated within the Conservation and Collection Management Section of the Collection Branch. The position is based at Mitchell, Canberra but you will regularly be required to communicate with staff across all NFSA sites and commute to NFSA headquarters at Acton to work and liaise with staff located there.

The position is full time 36.45 hours per week.

The NFSA is looking for a proactive and highly experienced Team Leader to lead the Collection Management Team and coordinate legacy collection projects. The successful applicant needs to be proactive, vibrant, and resilient, partnered with a keen ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. The ability to embrace and implement change is also a key component to this role.

**Job Details**

Under general direction, undertake the following duties:

- In collaboration with NFSA Curators, manage legacy acquisitions and deselection projects, ensuring their timely processing and completion. Provide ongoing, collaborative liaison with NFSA staff regarding collection matters.
- Supervise the activities of the Collection Management Team in accordance with Collection Management business plans and procedures.
- Provide performance management, training, mentoring and collection management advice to NFSA staff and external clients.
- Provide high level support to the Collections Registrar, Collection Management, and undertake required duties as outlined in the Collection Emergency Response and Recovery Plan.
- Complete administrative duties, develop and implement procedures and project plans in consultation with the Collections Registrar, Collection Management, and relevant internal stakeholders. Prepare reports and provide statistics.
