**Please note**: Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PAA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action. Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.

The Manager, Complex Mines, Fire and Emergency ensures that activities at the states most complex mining sites are compliant with legislation and provides guidance and leadership to the Earth Resources Regulation unit, on approaches to the prevention and mitigation of key risks at these sites.
Leading and managing the Complex Mines, Fire and Emergency Team, you will provide high level authoritative advice and action on regulatory compliance matters and emergency management issues at complex mine sites. With a key focus on mine fire and stability risk identification, prevention, and mitigation for complex mines, you will obtain and maintain authorization and fulfill all requirements of an Inspector under all relevant Acts.
As an effective leader, you will have demonstrated experience in a complex regulatory environment and have a passion for building positive team cultures and providing effective people management. Your strong communication skills and ability to understand complex stakeholder issues, will be key to developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders to encourage positive regulatory outcomes and behavioural change of complex mines operators.
This is ongoing position. The work location for this position Morwell, with hybrid work arrangements available.
