**The Opportunity**
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Purchasing Manager is a senior role responsible for business-critical activities around procurement strategy for Original Equipment and aftermarket components.

You operate at an expert level in purchasing with exceptional negotiation skills and thrive on getting the best deal. You bring manufacturing or similar industry experience and enjoy working autonomously. Responsible for all aspects of procurement you bring experience in direct materials, indirect expenditure, aftersales support, freight and customs. Your highly developed communication skills and understanding of manufacturing processes enable you to maintain and develop supplier relationships, contract negotiations, cost reduction initiatives and the day-to-day sourcing responsibilities to successfully deliver on the overall procurement strategy.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure components are sourced on suppliers capable of meeting production and aftersales requirements for price, quality, safety, and delivery.
- Establish arrangements/relationships with suppliers with the capacity and capability of meeting our production and commercial requirements. Liaise/communicate with senior executives (owners) on strategic matters.
- Respond appropriately to changes in strategic direction as advised. Report on day-to-day operational issues impacting the department and organisation. Communicate department objectives and report on performance.
- Liaise with PACCAR Corporate Purchasing with respect to global purchasing initiatives and standard work procedures.
- Mentor, develop and motivate staff to achieve department strategic and operational goals.
- Liaise with other internal departments such as Engineering, Sales, Quality and Materials on the development/ introduction of new products/suppliers and resolution of supply or quality problems.
- Liaise with Costing and Accounts departments to resolve pricing, invoicing, and procedural/systems issues.

**About You**
- A detailed understanding of component costs and the elements thereof.
- Highly developed communication skills (verbal & written).
- A good understanding of quality system requirements.
- Excellent numerical skills and financial analysis
- Above average computing knowledge and skills.
- Extensive Automotive Industry knowledge
- Extensive purchasing experience in manufacturing required, preferably in the automotive industry
- Relevant Business qualification preferred
