Manager - Payments Policy

More purpose, less insignificance

The Reserve Bank of Australia’s Payments Policy Department is seeking a manager to work in its Payments Access and Innovation section analysing developments in the rapidly changing payments industry and developing policies to promote efficiency and competition, and reduce risk, in Australia’s payments system.

The role

You will work with a small team of analysts and a senior manager on a range of priority payments policy topics, such as those related to the enhancement of cross-border payments and the modernisation of Australian payments infrastructure. You will help to develop capabilities within the team and organise workflows. The role will also involve producing high-quality analysis on payments policy issues for the RBA’s senior leadership and the Payments System Board. There will be opportunities for you to collaborate with other RBA teams on cross-cutting topics, and engage with industry stakeholders and other policy agencies.

Your background

We are looking for a thoughtful leader that is passionate about policy development. Given the nature of the work in the section and department, you will need to have:
- strong critical thinking skills to guide and produce analysis on complex policy questions and issues- good organisational and time management skills- a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with the intended audience in mind- a demonstrated ability to lead people and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders- relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, law, or related disciplines- a working knowledge of the payments system and/or financial regulation
