A great job opportunity has become available, for an experienced Health and Safety Manager in the Venue & Event Services department - _Safety & Resilience_ team. This team is responsible for building and maintaining a strong safety culture and to ensure the business is well prepared to prevent, and respond to risks on event days and non-event days at both the MCG and MCC managed sites.

Reporting to the Executive Manager - Safety & Business Resilience, this is a **key safety leadership role** responsible for the development and implementation of health and safety practices in all MCC workplaces, including the MCG. This role will also focus on monitoring the implementation of the Safety Management System including maintaining ISO45001 certification.

This role covers both event and non-event day safety operations.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Manage, maintain and continually improve the Safety Management System, lead ISO45001 accreditation and re-certification requirements.
- Develop and implement a compliance and quality management program of audits and inspections across all MCC work sites
- Manage casual Event Safety Officers (including coordination for event day).
- Responsible for the Health and Safety Committees, consulting staff and contractors and managing the operations of meetings.
- Lead safety related projects and delivery of safety related training.
- Produce safety reports to different stakeholders.
- Lead on the investigation of major, notifiable incidents and public liability claims where required. Analyse trends and take corrective steps.

To be successful in this role, you will have worked previously in a health & safety management role and have developed the health & safety strategies, plans, policies and procedures. You will also have a proactive, collaborative and respectful approach to your work and are team focused with a natural ability to develop credibility and strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. In addition you will have well-developed communication skills both written & verbal with a strong ability to negotiate, discuss and resolve problems, have an eye for detail, and be well organised.

It is essential that you will also have:

- Tertiary qualification in OHS/WHS, or equivalent (or working towards)
- Proven successful experience in managing safety issues in a relevant industry or preferably in public venues and/ or major event management
- Internal audit experience
- Sound and applied knowledge of OH&S legislation and regulations
- Strong analytical, interpersonal and consultation expertise
