The school facilitates the North Learning Centre (Suspension Centre) where staff in this centre support mostly high school students who require assistance to reflect on and understand their behaviour. Increased urban renewal and development in Ryde is supporting the growth in enrolments with current enrolment of 511 students. **Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Understanding the educational implications for schools meeting the needs of students from diverse backgrounds

2. Demonstrated experience in supporting students who exhibit challenging behaviours.

3. Capacity to collaborate with specialist personnel to ensure relevant management plans are developed for implementation, in order to support the return to mainstream schooling.

4. Demonstrated experience and ability in sourcing suitable programs and initiatives that support student learning and behaviour management.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
