Significant reform is underway in Queensland. The Information Privacy and Other Legislative Amendments Act 2023 (IPOLA Act) amends the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act) and the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act), to improve transparency and accountability of Queensland agencies and strengthen privacy protections available to individuals.
The Policy Officer will play a key role in the team responsible for the successful roll out of the reforms.

**OIC is looking an experienced policy officer with**:

- Extensive skills in the development, consultation and implementation of policies, procedures, work instructions and guides.
- Proven experience working with a large and diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Highly developed analytical skills.
- Enthusiasm and commitment to improve transparency and accountability across the Queensland Public Sector.

This is a temporary, 12-month full-time (flexible) opportunity.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and contribute to the preparation of operational policies, procedures, guides and other material in relation to the IP Act and RTI Act for OIC, Queensland public sector entities, and statutory authorities.
- Liaise and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in the development of best practice guides and other resources for Queensland public sector entities and statutory authorities.
- Provide high level advice on relevant policy, legislation and practice.
- Assist in the preparation of training materials and resources for delivery to Queensland public sector entities and statutory authorities.
- Undertake detailed analysis and resolution of complex issues.

Our office reviews agency decisions about access to information, mediates privacy complaints, and monitors and reports on agency compliance to Parliament.
