**About The Kirby Institute**:

**Why Your Role Matters**:
As a Research Officer, you will be responsible for the effective support and coordination of research projects in the fields of viral hepatitis and health of people who use drugs. This includes the provision of research assistance and support for individual project activities, coordination of activities to meet reporting requirements and assistance with the preparation of grants, registers, and submissions. Projects include (but are not limited to) surveillance, surveys, behavioural research and design, monitoring and evaluation programs, projects and interventions to address health issues.

The role reports to their supervisors (Associate Lecturer and Professors) and has no direct reports.

**Who You Are**:

- Postgraduate qualification and previous research project management or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training, or experience.
- Demonstrated experience and proficiency in quantitative data analysis including good working knowledge on data management and analysis using statistical software programs. Demonstrated proficiency using statistical software such as STATA or R to manage and analyse large databases will be highly regarded.
- Knowledge of research protocols, experimental design and planning as involved in developing research projects and reporting against milestones.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal communication skills to initiate and maintain effective stakeholder relationships whilst exercising discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
