This role will have a significant scaling function working directly with our Senior Finance Manager to establish processes and operations to double our business size in 2023.

**_ The Role_**:
As our Finance and Accounting intern, you will be supporting day to day business operations and the design and establishment of refined operating processes in our finance function. Working within our Business Operations team your core purpose is to deliver scale to XY Sense. Achieving in this role will give you direct business operations experience and a solid understanding of high growth finance and accounting practices.

**_ The work you’ll do_**:
This role is all about cleaning up, design and implementation, and operation of our finance processes and systems.

Key jobs and projects which you will take on will include;
- Review of existing finance systems and clean up of data to generate system integrity and accurate financial records
- Process development and improvement of finance and accounting operations covering our Australian and US operating entities
- Communication of updated processes and system updates to global team including development of operating guides on internal company wiki
- Undertake preparation of day to day bookkeeping entries for Australian and US operating entities to prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, month end journals and weekly/monthly finance reports
- Manage Account Receivable activities including manual invoicing, receipting & reconciliations
- Manage Accounts Payable, including sourcing of invoices/receipts & preparing payments
- Assist with improving AP/AR processes and supporting non finance employees with queries
- Assist with payroll process and prepare reconciliations

**_ What you’ll need to bring_**:
In delivering on the responsibilities of this role, a great attitude and willingness to learn is essential. However you will need to be able to demonstrate skills and training in the following areas.
- 2+ years of tertiary level education in accounting and finance.
- Experience working with Xero even if just at a project level so as you are able to navigate the software with good familiarity and recognition
- Excellent Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets skills and proficiency using digital cloud based tools
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a strong desire to use initiative to solve problems
- A passion for innovation and coming up with new ways of getting things done
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team player attitude with preparedness to roll up your sleeves and contribute.

**_ What we will offer in return_**:
This role will be a paid casual position and we would ask that you commit to at least 20 hours per week during your University break. Work can occur both remotely and in our Melbourne CBD office and you will have the opportunity to fully participate in company social, learning and engagement activities.
