**The Opportunity**
We have a rare and exciting opportunity to join our Rail Operations team as a **Training Coordinator - Train Control **and be part of the world’s first automated heavy haul rail network.
This position plays a key role in providing competency-based training and assessment for Train Controllers, to ensure our team have the competencies required to undertake their work in a skilled, safe and effective manner.
Reporting to the Superintendent Operations Train Control, your role will be varied and fast paced:
- Assist with the evaluation, development and maintenance of training and assessment services and material ensuring compliance with business requirements
- Drive standardised training and adult learning principles, training policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
- Maintain training and assessment documentation, in accordance with appropriate records management systems, procedures and legislative requirements
- Contribute to Incident Investigations to drive unbiased consistency
- Leading recruitment and onboarding of new Train Controllers
- Training and support for ATAS Trainees
- Support the On Job Training team with alignment and improvement opportunities
- Liaise with Train Control Supervisors and other relevant stakeholders to provide information and advice on training gaps identified during regular maintenance of competency
- Give support and regular constructive feedback that is linked to development needs
- Management of Rail Document Governance Processes
- You will be required to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels across Rio Tinto Iron Ore, in particular other execution teams within Rail Logistics and Optimisation and the wider Rail Division
**What you will need for this role**
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the below:
- Good understanding of Safeworking and Railway Operating principles
- Experience in training and assessing within the Rail Industry (preferably Train Control) and possess experience in technical writing (desirable)
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessing (desirable)
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Strong commitment to continuous improvement with a focus on improving training materials and delivery methodologies
- Improve the experience and efficiency of the training framework
- Ability to develop others through coaching, mentoring, rewarding and guiding
- Ability to lead and manage change in a complex environment
- Multitask to deliver results with excellent attention to detail whilst managing challenging and conflicting priorities
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions in a quick and thorough manner
- Strong commitment to safety and a genuine care for our people, especially our frontline teams
- A curious nature and a strong commitment to our Care, Courage & Curiosity values
- C Class Manual Drivers licence
