About the Team
The SRSS program is a complex and multifaceted model that works with asylum seekers in the community that are awaiting the outcome of a visa assessment and are considered highly vulnerable.
About You
The SRSS Housing Officer is responsible for ensuring quality housing support to SRSS Clients. The Housing Officer will facilitate the sourcing and setup of new short term accommodation (STA), conduct STA audits and provide ongoing housing support to clients including relocation to long term independent accommodation.
**Responsibilities**:
- Supporting clients sourcing and securing appropriate short-term accommodation (STA)
- Ensuring STA is set up prior to client arrival and that property meets WHS standards and is appropriate to client needs.
- Collaborating with internal/external stakeholders to delivery effective housing services to our clients
- Conduct regular condition reports and ensure maintenance is conducted in a timely manner.
- Undertake comprehensive and regular housing needs and risk assessments of clients against the vulnerability criteria for the SRSS program.
- Support the clients to develop independent living skills and to access appropriate supports in their community
- Prepare clients for entry and exit from short term properties and clearly outline the expectations for residing in the property.

Essential Criteria
- Diploma/Degree in Community Services/Welfare or related discipline.
- Minimum two years’ casework/housing experience
- Understanding of housing and case management approaches and theoretical frameworks.
- Experience working with CALD clients
