About the Position_

We are a leading recruitment agency partnering with a government department dedicated to building a more disaster-resilient region. We are seeking a skilled Regional Liaison Officer (RLO) to support the delivery and management of disaster recovery programs, including those funded under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). This role plays a vital part in coordinating rapid recovery for disaster-affected communities in the region.

This is a temporary position until the end of the year.
- Key Responsibilities_

As a Regional Liaison Officer, you will:

- Represent the government department's interests in delivery agent relationships and issues management.
- Identify and manage issues related to progress, delivery, costs, and risks to mitigate potential problems.
- Participate in local, regional, or State Disaster Management Groups on behalf of the government department.
- Monitor submission development to ensure accuracy and timely lodgement.
- Assess submissions for eligibility, scope, and accuracy of cost estimates.
- Conduct on-site inspections and program reviews to monitor the quality and completeness of funded works.
- Provide technical and project management advice to delivery agents for efficient program delivery.
- Facilitate resolutions between the government department and delivery agencies when disagreements arise.
- Build collaborative relationships with colleagues, delivery agents, and industry partners to ensure successful program delivery.
- Support and train delivery agents on the Management and Reporting System (MARS) and disaster recovery funding requirements.
- Offer guidance and support to delivery agents in meeting assurance and audit requirements.
- Gain a local and regional understanding of community profiles, infrastructure, risks, and opportunities to prioritize key improvement and resilience projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies related to Work Health and Safety (WH&S).
- Contribute to the program risk register.
- Be available for occasional travel within the region to meet with stakeholders.
- Be open to travel post-disaster events to support response and recovery operations.
- Required Qualifications and Experience_ To be successful in this role, you should have:
**Qualifications**:

- A degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent Civil Engineering qualification, accepted by the relevant professional body.

**Desirable Qualifications**:

- Registration as a Professional Engineer.
- Project management qualifications.

**Experience**:

- Project management skills in a program management environment or similar.
- Stakeholder engagement and management experience.
