The Heavy Vehicle Driver Safety Reform project aims to improve the safety and skills of heavy vehicle drivers through the uplift of driver competence and capability, whilst also supporting initiatives to ease supply chain pressures and driver skills shortages. This program will design and implement the Victorian delivery of the national work to develop a new exemplar National Heavy Vehicle Competency Framework.

**About the Role**

As the the Stakeholder Engagement Lead, you will play a lead role in stakeholder engagement and communications activities for the implementation of the heavy vehicle reform program ensuring heavy vehicle drivers are qualified and safe drivers.

You will use your expertise in stakeholder engagement to drive the successful implementation of the high-profile and complex Victorian Heavy Vehicle Driver Safety Reform program.

Your accountablities will include developing and delivering stakeholder communications and engagement strategies and plans, whilst building strong relationships within the Department of Transport and Planning, key stakeholders and delivery partners to ensure the effective delivery of a package of heavy vehicle driver safety reform. You will bring advanced verbal and written communication and influencing skills to engage industry stakeholders, employers, training providers and internal agencies about the impact of the reform and help to negotiate outcomes to minimise disruption for Victorians.

**Key Selection Criteria**
- Worked with the Department of Transport and Planning including agencies to identify stakeholder needs across the full life of the program to develop costed stakeholder engagement and communication plans that provided a consistent approach across government, heavy vehicle industry, employers, heavy vehicle driver training providers and other external and internal stakeholders.
- Delivered stakeholder engagement plans by proactively engaging stakeholders throughout development of reform activities, providing information and materials to support them to deliver relevant communications to their audiences.
- Coordinated stakeholder reference groups to inform and co-develop campaigns on reform topics that meet stakeholder needs.
- Monitored measured, and reported on the success of stakeholder engagement to senior staff.
- Worked collaboratively across broader stakeholder and partnerships strategies to ensure planned stakeholder engagement is delivered as part of a cohesive approach for the Department of Transport and Planning
- Prepared necessary key messaging to support decision making by Ministers and the department.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Mandatory**
- An appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in communications, stakeholder relations or similar discipline.

**Qualifications (Favourable)**
- Experience working in the transport and logistics sector
- Experience in supporting the implementation of a significant reform program
