The University of Newcastle has been awarded funding from the NSW Government to establish a signature program aimed at developing technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship skills among our students. This program will leverage the extensive expertise, resources, and industry connections of the I2N to enrich the student experience.

As the Coordinator, Pre-Startup Programs, you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of engagement activities that empower students, alumni and community to develop enterprise and technology competencies and sector familiarity, explore their entrepreneurial potential and drive innovation. This includes:

- Collaborating with Program Managers and industry experts to design and deliver a diverse calendar of co/extra-curricular engagement activities including sector-specific panel and speaker sessions, ideation and rapid prototyping workshops, and innovation challenges across multiple campuses.
- Working with the Manager, Pre-Startup Programs to coordinate various aspects of the Pre-Accelerator for Entrepreneurs program in partnership with the Newcastle Business School, providing students with practical experience in lean startup methodology.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of systems to measure, update, and report on the impact of Pre-Startup programs.
- Collaborating with the Manager, Pre-Startup Programs, and I2N staff to ensure a cohesive approach to programming, procedures, and processes.
- Contributing to the conversion of student, alumni and community participants into Startup programs.
- Fostering relationships with key stakeholders within the University and startup and industry partners across the broader innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
- Collaborating with team members across various University campuses, including Callaghan, Ourimbah, and Gosford, to ensure pilot success.

This grant funded position is a full time Fixed Term position to March 2027 at a HEW 6 Higher Education Level and will be based at Newcastle City Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land) with travel to Callaghan and Gosford on an as needs basis.

**About the Unit**

The office of the Pro Vice Chancellor, Industry and Engagement provides University-wide strategic support for industry partnerships, commercialisation, business engagement, and entrepreneurship initiatives in alignment with the Engagement Priorities of the University’s _Looking Ahead _Strategic Plan 2020-2025. The PVCIE has carriage of Knowledge Exchange & Enterprise (KEE), Integrated Innovation Network (I2N), Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER), and the Institute for Regional Futures

The I2N provides physical space and transformative enterprise skill training to enable University staff, students, alumni, and community members to create and implement solutions to societal and commercial problems. Its range of globally recognised entrepreneurship programs helps start-ups, spinouts build innovative solutions for businesses, organisations and the community while tapping into University resources. The I2N also provides training to support research teams to effectively build commercialisation expertise, manage relationships and attain real-world impact for industry and society.
