**About the team**

ICRAR is a WA State funded high profile equal joint venture established in 2009 between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia (UWA). The Centre’s headquarters are located at UWA, with research nodes at both UWA and Curtin. ICRAR has been funded with $25 Million by the WA State Government and $35 Million contribution from the Joint Venture Universities till 2024.

ICRAR is one of the largest astronomy institutions and one of the lead Australian organisations participating in the international Square Kilometre Array (SKA) Project. ICRAR has secured multimillion dollar contracts to participate in the SKA software development, SKA-Low power and signal distribution system and SKA-MID phase synchronisation system for the SKA construction period until 2028.

ICRAR successfully launched its Translation and Impact program in 2019 to enable translation of its radio astronomy associated broad expertise in several domains to deliver benefits to industry, government agencies and other research sectors.

**About the opportunity**

As the appointee you will, under broad direction, take a lead role in driving the ICRAR UWA’s Translation and Impact (T&I) Program. You will lead the establishment of new partnerships and engagement with key stakeholders, including industry. You will proactively work with ICRAR UWA Program Directors and Project Leads to identify, initiate, implement, review and ensure reporting of T&I projects and activities. You will focus on projects that translate ICRAR UWA’s Science, Data Intensive Astronomy and Astrophotonics expertise to industry, communities and multi-disciplinary sectors.

**About you**

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate extensive experience and expertise in industry engagement, working with researchers and ability to translate research to other sectors. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a network of connections with relevant local, national and international partners. A basic understanding of astronomy and data science would be helpful.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

- Relevant degree qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
- Demonstrated substantial expertise in industry engagement and project development
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy project management best practices, policies, procedures, and processes and deliver quality outcomes in a limited timeframe
- Experience of working with scientists and science teams to support them identifying and translating relevant skills
- Experience of working with astronomy and data science related scientists would be an asset
- Highly developed analytical, problem solving and organisational skills to effectively plan and implement multiple projects
