**_ What is the role?_**

The Hume City Council is seeking the services of a City Laws Officer to join our City Safety team to provide efficient and effective Local Laws, Parking and Animal Management service by effectively administering and enforcing all Acts, Regulations and Local Laws as delegated in a professional and efficient manner.

You must be passionate about delivering high-quality services and you will need to possess an outstanding level of customer service skills and have excellent written & communication skills and be able to work independently while utilising effective time management and have the ability to prioritise workload.

**_ Position Objectives:_**
- To provide efficient and effective Local Laws, Parking, Animal Management service by effectively administering and enforcing all Acts, Regulations and Local Laws as delegated in a professional and efficient manner.
- To provide information to other Council staff and the general public in a consistent, coordinated and courteous manner.

**_ About You:_**
- Knowledge of relevant Acts and legislation, including but not limited to - Domestic Animals Act 1994, Road Safety Act - Road Rules, Local Government Act, Impounding of Livestock Act 2006, Summary Offences Act and Hume City Council General Local law No 1.
- To maintain a current working knowledge of changes to legislation and practice in Local laws and animal management and other legislation which authorised under.
- Knowledge and understanding of Council Policies and Procedures.
- Advanced time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Certificate IV in Local Government Statutory Compliance and Certificate IV in Animal Control & Regulation (or similar), or preparedness and ability to obtain this qualification.
- Knowledge of the Domestic Animals Act, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Environmental Protection Act, Impounding of Livestock Act, Metropolitan Fire Brigades Act, CFA Act Local Government Act, Road Safety Act, Road Rules - Victoria and Council's Local Laws
- Experience in either justice administration, public administration, law enforcement, animal management, customer service or related fields.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare basic correspondence.
