**The Opportunity**:
**Position Objectives**:

- To lead the assessment and preparation, implementation and review of local planning policies, Strategy Plans, Precinct Structure Plans, Development Plans and Development/Infrastructure Contributions Plan.
- To provide high level strategic land use planning, policy development, advice and research expertise to the Council for the long-term benefit of the community of Hume City Council.
- To coordinate and facilitate the ongoing review and monitoring of the Hume Planning Scheme and the preparation of high-level Planning Scheme amendments to the Scheme.
- To provide high level strategic comment and advice on new development proposals in accordance with planning legislation, Council policies and strategies.
- To promote community awareness of, and participation in, the development of City Strategy Policies that advance Council's land use planning objectives.
- To provide a mentor role for other strategic planners within the City Strategy team including guidance for the preparation of legal agreements with landowners and developers relating to development contributions.
- To project manage strategic land use planning projects as directed by the Manager City Strategy.

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**:

- Tertiary qualifications in urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture or a related discipline.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
- Urban / regional planning experience and knowledge of Local Government and issues at a Local and / or State level.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, incorporating verbal and written communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
