**Selection Criteria**:
SC1. Demonstrated capacity to deliver professional support services in a school including direct counselling for a range of mental health issues working with individual students, and students in small group settings.

SC2. Demonstrated high level organisational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to work collaboratively with all members of the school community.

SC3. Demonstrated high level computer, and oral and communication skills including record keeping and report writing.

SC4. Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing evidence-based intervention strategies for students with complex needs.

SC5. Demonstrated knowledge of mandatory reporting requirements and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

SC6. Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and growth for both self and others.

**Role**:
The student wellbeing staff member will assist students enrolled at Bendigo Primary School with a focus on Tier 2 and 3 interventions. The role requires flexibility as the person will be working with a variety of students across the school and liaising with school wellbeing staff.

The role involves
- Working with students to build their ability to understand, manage and regulate their emotions, reactions and feelings.
- Providing professional clinical services to students within the parameters of DET and school policy and guidelines and standards set by the relevant registration body.
- Providing professional reports including assessments and recommendations for consideration by others.
- Working alongside school staff and student support officers in an effective, professional manner.
- Explaining professional concepts and approaches to students, school staff and families.
- Delivering professional learning to school staff when needed/appropriate.
- Facilitating individual or small group programs for students.
- When required, to work alongside a teacher in a classroom to support a student/s.
- Being able to communicate with a wide range of people and agencies.
- Having an understanding of outside agencies and organisations and how to refer to them in line with DET guidelines.

**Responsibilities**:
Positions at this range possess broader management responsibilities, particularly in the areas of finance, human resources, delivery of professional student support services and, or clinical management and other support functions. Roles will possess greater autonomy in the completion of tasks and have responsibility for managing a range of functions including the provision of appropriate support levels for other staff within the school.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

- coordinate delivery of a range of support services across a school(s) involving a range of work areas
- provide a child safe environment in accordance with the Child Safe Standards
- manage the delivery of a professional support service(s) in a school(s), including the development of policy and operational practices that will guide the work of others, including teachers
- undertake advanced interventions in dealing with particularly complex cases that may require cross-profession or agency collaboration

**Location Profile**:
Bendigo Violet Street Primary School is situated in central Bendigo. Our school community is diverse, including families that live in close proximity, as well as a number of families from neighbouring suburbs. Our school buildings reflect our pride and links with the past. We have a well-maintained main building housing the Administration are and the Grade 3- 6 unit. The upper building has been designed to allow the Early Years team to provide flexible teaching and learning spaces, both indoors and out. Our school’s socio-economic band value is: Low to Medium.

The school has 12.5 equivalent full-time (EFT) teaching staff and 6 full-time equivalent (EFT) Education Support staff. Our teaching staff consists of 9 classroom teachers, 4 Specialist teachers (part time), 1 Literacy Intervention and Support teacher, 1 Learning Specialist and 1 Principal. In addition, we have 5 classroom-based education Support Staff of various time fractions, 1 After School Care Co-ordinator, 1 Garden Program Co-ordinator and 1 Business Manager.
