**About the role**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced **Specialist Condition Monitoring** to join our Rio Tinto Iron Ore Asset Health team. As a **Specialist Condition Monitoring**, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our condition monitoring strategy. You will be an expert in various condition monitoring methods, including Vibration and Lubricant Analysis with working knowledge of other methods such as Infra-red Thermography and Airborne or Structural Ultrasound. Your role will involve providing technical expertise to on-site technicians, creating and maintaining business standards, and leading the effective deployment of condition monitoring practices across the organization.
Reporting to the Principal Asset Health, in this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop and implement the company's condition monitoring strategy, aligning it with business goals and objectives.
- Be regarded as the company Subject Matter Expert in assessment of machinery and equipment to identify potential faults or failures using various condition monitoring methods such as Vibration and Lubricant analysis, Infra-red Thermography, and Acoustic Emissions.
- Provide expert level technical assistance when required for critical machinery diagnostic decisions and operational recommendations
- Select and implement business wide condition monitoring data systems used to analyse information, identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that may indicate potential equipment malfunctions or deteriorations.
- Provide governance of condition monitoring systems, tools and processes, including transition to AI and Machine Learning opportunities
- Develop new and improve existing business CM standards, guidelines and work instructions.
- Work with the maintenance departments to review condition monitoring practices and corresponding asset performance trends
- Define and govern technician competency and capability requirements
- Develop, review and improve condition monitoring metrics and reporting at supply chain level
- Prioritise and manage improvement plans using project engineering methodologies
- Identify and develop business cases for new resources or infrastructure (this may include site facilities, new technology, staff or contract requirements)
- Manage and coordinate technical partnerships with key vendors and suppliers
- Coach and mentor other team members and site operations to implement condition monitoring and asset health programs
- Promote a strong HSE culture and attitude
This permanent position will be based at Rio Tinto’s Operations Centre located near the Perth Airport working Monday to Friday with flexible working arrangements and will require ad hoc site travel.
**What you’ll bring**
- Certification in relevant condition monitoring techniques
- ISO 18436-2 VCAT-III or IV
- OA ICML MLA2 or ISO 18436-4 Level 2
- IR ISO 18436-7 Level 1
- Other experience and certification favourably regarded
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, and/or significant technical and industry experience
- Proven experience working as a Condition Monitoring Practitioner or in a similar role
- Demonstrated advanced Condition Monitoring practitioner experience, testing and troubleshooting rotating equipment asset health risks (mining assets preferred)
- Knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to condition monitoring
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality
- Demonstrated ability to promote innovation and leveraging new ideas, based on sound technical and commercial justification
