**The opportunity**

Infrastructure and Place has an exciting opportunity to join our Rail Delivery team for a Trade Qualified Licenced Electrician.

This is an entry level Trade qualified role where transport NSW will provide you with the training and guidance to kick start your career within the rail industry. You will combine off the job training and on the job skills development in order to obtain a nationally recognised qualification in the Electricity Distribution network and 1500 Volt Rail Traction System.

You will assist in the delivery of complex Electrical Commissioning projects and the testing and commissioning of work for electrical systems in accordance with TfNSW priorities, budgets, policies and standards.

You will be ambitious, keen to learn & willing to take on the additional courses and training requirements

Working within a team of electrical specialists you will work predominantly on-site. The role will involve overseeing projects you are part of are planned to ensure jobs run to scope, on time and to budget. Your core hours will be Monday to Friday 35-hour work week however additional overtime of an evening or weekend is also a requirement of this role.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Manage routine site supervision activities.
- Maintain detailed site records of work performed and construction activities
- Ensure all electrical works are carried out in accordance with contract documents.
- Support with high voltage AC & DC switching and isolations, enabling Electrical Isolations
- Provide access provision and supervision within substations enabling work in a brownfield environment
- Provide guidance on what isolations are required and how to work safely around equipment.
- Assist with hanging and removal of working earths on overhead conductors
- Assist with testing and commissioning of new and or altered electrical equipment
- Assist with design investigation works, defect or breakdown support works and incident investigation.

**About you**
- Hold a Trade Qualification as an Electrician
- Hold an Electrical Trade Licence
- An excellent communicator with the ability to engage with stakeholders both verbally and written
- Ability to work at heights
- Previous experience with high voltage works (preferred)
- Willing to complete the qualifications in the Electricity Distribution network and 1500 Volt Rail Traction System.
- Hold 1C car licence.

**Salary and benefits**

The salary for this position is Transport Grade 7 $108770 - $121822 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
