Role summary

The Engineering Lead is responsible for providing technical leadership and direction to engineering teams whilst contributing to the development and delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Data Science, and DevOps to deliver solutions that meet business requirements and technical standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to mentor and develop team members whilst contributing to architectural decisions and technical strategy.

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, career development support, and performance management
  • Drive the design and implementation of robust, scalable software solutions that align with business objectives and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliverable solutions
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools and assistants to enhance productivity and code quality in daily engineering tasks
  • Team collaboration with potential involvement in AI product development initiatives
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including code quality standards, testing strategies, and deployment processes
  • Contribute to technical architecture decisions and ensure solutions are built with scalability, maintainability, and performance in mind
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence within the engineering team
  • Oversee code reviews, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing initiatives to maintain high standards across the team
  • Manage technical debt and ensure appropriate balance between feature delivery and system maintenance
  • Contribute to recruitment and onboarding of new engineering talent, ensuring team growth aligns with business needs
  • Drive adoption of modern development practices, tools, and technologies that enhance team productivity and solution quality

The superpowers you will bring to the team:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions
  • 2+ years of technical leadership or team management experience
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used at Quantium (e.g., Python, C#, TypeScript, Java)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern development practices
  • Solid understanding of software architecture patterns, design principles, and engineering best practices
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI development tools is highly desirable
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks and model deployment pipelines is advantageous
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively across diverse teams
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior engineers
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
  • Experience with data processing, analytics platforms, or machine learning systems is highly desirable
  • Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
  • Familiarity with database technologies and data modelling concepts
