Sydney, New South Wales, Australia HPX Group Full time

Join Us & Help Shape Trust Accounting in a High-Growth, People-First Business

Are you a detail-driven finance professional who takes pride in accuracy, loves a well-reconciled account, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative team? Ready to bring your trust accounting expertise to a business where culture and innovation are at the core?

At HPX Group, we're not just building a professional services firm - we're building something different.

As one of Australia's fastest-growing businesses, we believe delivering a great People Experience (Px) leads to a better Client Experience (Cx). That means we put culture first, and we've built everything from our systems to our leadership around this philosophy.

We're now looking for a motivated Trust Accountant to join our Finance Team and play a key role in managing trust operations for Hamilton Locke.

What You'll Do

This is a hands-on role with variety and responsibility, working closely with our offshore accounting support, internal finance team, and partners across the business to ensure our trust accounting processes run smoothly and meet compliance requirements.

Trust Accounting – 95% of your role

  • Manage and oversee day-to-day trust account operations - receipting, payments, reconciliations
  • Prepare trust reports, manage annual trust audits, and lodge statutory returns
  • Process trust deposit forms and payment requisitions
  • Monitor and manage the trust inbox, responding to internal and external queries
  • Liaise with auditors, banks, and stakeholders on trust account matters
  • Work with offshore accounting support on reconciliations and quarterly statutory deposit calculations
  • Bank liaison on trust banking queries
  • Ensure compliance with trust accounting regulations across multiple jurisdictions

Accounting Admin – 5% of your role

  • Process internal bank transfers and manage corporate credit card administration
  • Assist with reviewing weekly payment runs

What We're Looking For

You're more than just numbers - you're someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys problem-solving, and can balance the technical side of trust accounting with clear communication and teamwork.

  • 2+ years' experience in a trust accounting role (ideally in a law firm)
  • Experience with online banking platforms and payment processing
  • Strong attention to detail and process-driven mindset
  • Excellent time management skills — calm under pressure and deadline-focused
  • Confident communicator, able to liaise with clients, partners, and lawyers
  • Intermediate Excel skills and general tech-savviness
  • Adaptable, positive, and comfortable working in a high-growth environment

Why Join Hamilton Locke?

We don't just talk about culture - we live and breathe it. You'll be part of a people-first team where collaboration, trust, and growth matter.

  • Be part of a high-growth business where your impact matters
  • Help shape smarter trust accounting processes and contribute to exciting projects
  • Learning opportunities, professional development, and mentoring in a business that invests in its people
  • Da Vinci - get an extra week of leave each year by doing something out of your comfort zone
  • Enjoy a day off on your birthday
  • Flexibility to work from home 2–3 days per week
  • Access to Perkbox – get discounts on everything from groceries to your next holiday
  • Fun team events, Adventure Club trips, retreats, learning days, and more
