Join our Customer Journey Operations team as a Transport Operations Controller. Monitor the state road and transport network in real time, identify incidents and congestion across all transport modes, and coordinate responses with on‑the‑ground teams and the Senior Transport Operations Controller.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor the state road and transport network in real time, identifying incidents and congestion across all transport modes and coordinating quick responses with teams on the ground and the Senior Transport Operations Controller.
  • Proactively monitor clearway corridors and respond to vehicles parked in clearways, bus lanes, transit lanes and other prescribed places by dispatching tow tracks; ensure accurate records are kept for follow‑up.
  • Track the performance of traffic signal systems and report faults that could affect traffic flow. Use GRN radio to stay in contact with field staff and provide live updates to the Transport Management Centre (TMC) communications team.
  • Work in a 24/7 operations room on a rotating roster, including day and night shifts; respond to weekends and public holidays as required; take advantage of penalty and overtime rates and five weeks of annual leave.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience in a control room environment, ideally within the Transport sector; emergency services control room experience also highly regarded.
  • Effective communicator, able to work under pressure and make on‑the‑spot decisions.
  • Comfortable using dispatch systems, radio communications, and traffic/transport monitoring tools; intermediate computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of NSW road rules including clearway and parking restrictions and principal transport modes in Sydney and across NSW.
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 operations room on a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays; a team player who contributes to a high‑performing team culture.
