Operations Supervisor

Overview

Operations Supervisor role at Team Global Express in Karawatha. This is a full-time permanent position with working hours Monday to Friday, 2:00pm to 10:00pm. PM Shift Allowance Applies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee floor operations to ensure cost efficient and effective allocation of labour and equipment to achieve daily work requirements.
• Ensure freight is received, documented, handled and loaded in the correct manner, whilst achieving maximum vehicle utilisation at minimal cost.
• Plan and co-ordinate freight to allocated trailers, ensuring all freight is loaded in assigned bays.
• Ensure loading of Dangerous Goods is carried out in accordance with the Dangerous Goods Code.
• Ensure all freight movements are scanned correctly.
• Ensure all freight is secured safely in accordance with Load Restraint Guidelines.
• Report all damages to freight or equipment using a Service Incident Report and communicate with customer service as needed.
• Ensure customer freight is appropriately labelled and delivered in accordance with delivery specifications.
• Complete daily pre-starts for all assigned forklifts and escalate any fault rectification.
• Ensure load plans and travel documentation are completed accurately.
• Monitor Forklift Operators to ensure the correct use of ancillary equipment (e.g., ramps, lifting platform).
• Determine and consult with Handling Manager regarding daily labour hire requirements.
• Ensure all new workers are inducted as per Toll Express Procedure.
• Complete staff rostering daily and ensure leave is recorded accurately.
• When required, work with Linehaul to ensure the effective utilisation of trailing equipment.
• Other duties as deemed necessary by the Handling Manager.

• Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety policies and legislation.

• Understanding of freight handling process and operational requirements.
• Ability to nurture a harmonious, congenial and efficient working environment.
• Computer literacy; numeracy and literacy skills.
• Ability to determine labour and equipment to meet scheduled workloads.
• Proven problem solving ability with a solutions orientation.
• Ability to recognise and control costs.
• Ability to identify and remedy operational inefficiencies and service problems.
• Ability to deliver training in procedures and operations of equipment/systems.
