About The Role

We are seeking a motivated Finance Officer to join our Mental Health Service's Business and Performance Unit. Based at the Calvary Mater Hospital campus in Waratah, you'll be part of a small, knowledgeable and highly supportive finance team that plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity of one of the region's most essential health portfolios.

This is an opportunity to apply your financial acumen in a high-impact setting, working across varied and dynamic financial processes with the support of an experienced Finance Manager. You will gain insight into the operational workings of a large and complex health service, while being encouraged to pursue professional development and career progression.

The role is full-time, with flexibility considered. It is offered initially as a 12-month temporary contract, with the possibility of extension or permanency, depending on ongoing organisational needs.

In This Role, You'll
  • Provide operational finance support across budgeting, reporting, and reconciliations
  • Use your analytical skills to contribute to performance monitoring and business improvements
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure accurate financial data and decision-making support
  • Maintain compliance with NSW Health finance procedures and deadlines
  • Play an integral role in a small, agile and respected team

About You

You're a proactive, personable finance professional who enjoys working in a team and making a difference through precision and process. You have completed your relevant tertiary qualifications or are working towards, and you're ready to contribute meaningfully to a service that supports community mental health care.

You have experience working with finance systems and are confident using Excel at an intermediate to advanced level. You're someone who adapts well to change, thrives in a fast-paced environment and knows how to prioritise competing tasks effectively.

To Be Successful, You'll Need To Demonstrate
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, or working towards
  • Strong skills in Excel and other financial software (Intermediate–Advanced level)
  • Experience in financial administration, preferably in a health or complex service organisation
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills
