Overview

Crisis Intervention Specialist - Children Who Witness Violence Program at FrontLine Service

The Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS), as part of the Children Who Witness Violence program (CWWV), provides acute trauma intervention services in the home and community, trauma screening, assessment, Child Family Traumatic Stress Intervention and Trauma Focused -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and practical and emotional support to family members and witnesses of traumatic and/or violent events in the community. CWWV staff also assist with trauma-informed diagnostic screenings and assessments and participate in community responses to schools and communities after a violent incident. They partner with law enforcement, hospitals, schools, the Department of Children and Family Services, and other community agencies throughout Cuyahoga County to support families in safety planning, understanding potential impacts on children, coordination of responders, linkage to resources for navigating the criminal justice process, and addressing needs after acute traumatic events such as housing or other services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide acute trauma intervention services in the home and community, including trauma screening and assessment.
  • Deliver Child Family Traumatic Stress Intervention and Trauma Focused -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Offer practical and emotional support to family members and witnesses of traumatic or violent events.
  • Assist Defending Childhood Initiative staff with trauma-informed diagnostic screenings and assessments.
  • Participate in community responses to schools and communities after violent incidents.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, hospitals, schools, the Department of Children and Family Services, and other community agencies to coordinate care and services.
  • Help families plan for safety and understand potential impacts of incidents on children; coordinate with other responders and systems; connect to resources to navigate the criminal justice process.
  • Assist with other needs that arise in the aftermath of acute traumatic events (e.g., housing, linkage to community services).
Schedule

Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 6:30pm

This is a non-exempt, union position, pay rate $36.06 per hour.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, with a minimum of one year professionally supervised work in the delivery of mental health, chemical dependency and/or social services.
  • Must have either an LSW, LISW, LPC or LPCC to be considered.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license with a good driving record and proof of insurance.
  • Master's degree strongly preferred.
