The QBCC is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Assessment Officer to play a key role in safeguarding Queensland's building standards and ensuring fair outcomes for consumers and industry participants. In this position, you will be responsible for investigating, assessing, and determining a broad range of matters, including building disputes, home warranty and insurance claims, and compliance issues. Your sound judgment, technical expertise, and strong decision-making skills will contribute directly to the integrity of Queensland's building and construction sector. This position is based in Brisbane. The successful candidate may be able to apply for flexible working arrangements, including working remotely at a Regional QBCC office (subject to approval and availability) and working from home for up to two days per week. Please note: QBCC will be relocating from West End to the Brisbane CBD at the end of 2025.
Key Outcomes and Accountabilities- Apply, interpret and provide higher level advice on legislation and policies.
- Assess and investigate complaints about defective building work and claims made under the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme in accordance with delegations.
- Interpret and apply legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Undertake and facilitate case related research.
- Provide coaching and training to team members with a focus on processes and procedure.
- Represent QBCC in promotional and educational activities.
- Represent QBCC in hearings before the tribunal and courts as required.
- Contributes own expertise to achieve outcomes for the business unit including making effective use of individual and team capability and being responsive to changes in requirements.
- Apply, interpret, and provide advice on legislation and Sees tasks through to completion while committing to achieve lawful and quality outcomes and adheres to record keeping procedures.
- Negotiates confidently, listens to, and considers different ideas and discussed issues credibly and thoughtfully identifying other people's expectations and concerns.
- Responds in a positive and flexible manner to change. Shares information with others and adapts to a changing environment. Demonstrates self- awareness and commitment to personal development.
