Opal Bag Solutions operates across Australia to provide tailored high-performance paper bag and other paper-based packaging solutions. We have an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest packaging companies in Australia as our Thomastown site is looking for 2 experienced electricians to come onboard (one on day shift from 7am until 3pm and one on afternoon shift from 3pm until 11pm)

The key focus of this role will be to:

  1. Maintain equipment condition and reliability so that company safety, production, and quality targets can be achieved.
  2. Provide technical support to the Maintenance and Production teams.
  3. Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to minimize downtime, including contribution to routine planned shutdowns.
  4. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and codes.
  5. Assist with breakdowns and conduct troubleshooting analysis as required.
  6. Demonstrate excellent PLC knowledge and understanding to enable troubleshooting of equipment.
  7. Have thorough knowledge and experience with powered drives, automatic guided vehicles (AGVs), and robotics.
  8. Read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.
  9. Have experience working with converting-type production lines in a FMCG environment (highly regarded).
  10. Possess solid knowledge and experience with industrial instrumentation and control systems.

For this role, we would like you to have:

  1. An Electrical A grade Licence (this is required).
  2. Experience working as an electrician in a FMCG manufacturing/industrial environment.
  3. Knowledge and experience in safe working practices and isolation processes.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  5. Reliable and self-motivated individual with a great work ethic.
  6. Quick learner with a can-do attitude.
  7. Ability to implement cost optimization strategies within the spare parts management space.
  8. A team player with effective communication (verbal and written) skills.
  9. Computer literacy – experience with Microsoft Office programs and other databases.
