Overview

The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) is seeking a Ranger for the Perth Hills District. This is a permanent, full-time position based in the Perth Hills District. Applications for this position close at midday on Wednesday, 3 September 2025. The Perth Hills District features National Parks, forest walks, cycle trails, scenic drives, gourmet restaurants, cafes, boutique wineries and an abundance of local market produce, and is a popular destination for outdoor activities.



Base pay range

$61,889.00/yr - $75,624.00/yr


RNPGA, Grade 1 or 2, $61,889 - $67,435 or $69,333 - $75,624 p.a. plus 25% No Fixed Hours Loading plus 12% Superannuation



Responsibilities
  • Carries out programmed operational activities and field logistical support within National Parks, conservation parks and recreation precincts within the Perth Hills District, including maintenance and servicing of facilities, visitor control, and the delivery of conservation programs as directed.
  • Assists with fire, feral animal, weed and interpretative programs.
  • Implements work programs consistent with departmental guidelines, policies and management plans.


Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following three criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three pages in total.

  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability for (Grade 1) or experience in (Grade 2) liaison with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, Indigenous groups and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team, show initiative and to work unsupervised.
  • Ability to (Grade 1) or demonstrated experience in (Grade 2) construction and maintenance, carrying out routine maintenance duties, including the use of hand tools, power tools, chainsaws and small engines.
