Nasdaq Trade Surveillance technology powers surveillance and compliance for over 40 marketplaces, 11 regulators and 200 market participants across 200 markets globally. Scalable to billions of transactions and flexible to manage various unique data sources, NTS holistically examines scenarios across multiple venues and asset classes.
We are currently seeking a Back-End Java Developer to join a dedicated project team to deliver a new industry leading surveillance product. This fast paced and time critical project requires a previous experience in capital markets, preferably in trading, clearing or surveillance functions. The role is suitable for candidates who are not afraid to work with ambiguity, are resilient and able to adjust quickly through multiple solutions to meet demanding and changing requirements.

What You Will Do
- Reviews system requirements and business processes; codes, tests, debugs; implements and/or maintains software solutions for more complex assignments.
- Determines systems software design requirements.
- Designs, develops, modifies, adapts and implements short– and long-term solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems and applications infrastructure.
- Develops security solutions for complex assignments.
- Provides application software development services or technical support typically for more challenging assignments.
- Develops program logic for new applications or analyses and modifies logic in existing applications.
- Modifies existing internal software products to add to new functions, adapt to new hardware, improve performance or enhance product usability.
- Ensures that applications are compatible across multiple platforms and browsers.
- May participate in all aspects from detailed programming to high level system design.
- Participates in IT systems strategy, development and /or integrations services to clients.
- Provides technology trends and competitive landscape expertise and makes technology decisions to drive opportunities and competitive advantage for our clients.
- Provides a deep domain and industry experience and expertise to design and develop creative solutions.
- Provides deep awareness of technology and market trends to anticipate industry changes and conceptualize solutions.
- As a generalist, becomes involved in all aspects of a project including firmware, hardware, architecture, database warehouse and mining, database design and analysis, software development and testing.
- Ensure continuous integration by setting up and maintaining projects in Jenkins.
- Use profiling tools, such as JProfiler and YourKit, to optimise and improve performance.
- Use Linux commands/scripting as well as Splunk and Grafana to analyse logs and efficiently solve problems.
What You Expect
- Degree qualified in a field related to Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
- At least 8 years of software development experience
- Experience working with multiple asset classes (equity, commodities, fixed income)
- Experience working with multiple data structures and mappings
- Experience in working with high transaction volumes
- Expertise in writing back-end code using JAVA
- Proven problem-solving skills with a strong knowledge of core Java fundamentals including data structures and algorithms
- Knowledge of networking protocols
- Knowledge of AWS is a plus
