We are currently seeking a Permanent FullTimestaff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.

The role

We areseeking an experienced and highly organised Assistant Building Surveyor to joinour team, reporting to the Municipal Building Surveyor. In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the provision ofbuilding surveying services to the ratepayers, residents and customers ofthe municipality ensuring compliance with the building permit, approveddocumentation, the Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code ofAustralia, Australian Standards and applicable Local Laws.
  • Assist in the administration ofthe swimming pool register and any enforcement related tasks requiredunder the Building Act and Building Regulations under the direction of theMunicipal Building Surveyor or Deputy Building Surveyors.
  • Assist in assessment of BuildingPermit applications and documentation under the Building Act and BuildingRegulations including customer engagement to facilitate the approval.
  • Assist in the assessment ofCouncil Report and or Consent applications and local law permits includingcustomer engagement to facilitate the determination
  • Assist the Municipal BuildingSurveyor / Deputy Building Surveyors and Building Inspectors in draftingreports, correspondence, requests for information, Notices and Orders,together with general correspondence for review and signature by therelevant authorised officers.

To be considered you will have:

  • Advanced Diploma ofBuilding Surveying or equivalent is essential.
  • Experience as an AssistantBuilding Surveyor or equivalent within local government, state governmentor the private sector (preferred but not essential).
  • Good understanding andworking knowledge of the Building Act, Building Regulations and theBuilding Code of Australia, referenced Australian standards andconstruction methods, together with an understanding and awareness ofcurrent and emerging technology affecting the building constructionprocess.
  • Sound conceptual andanalytic skills able to understand and apply legislation, and to prepareclear and concise correspondence.
