About the opportunity
The Investigation Officer (Scheme Integrity Investigations) conducts an initial triage of matters that are referred to Scheme Integrity Investigations in order to determine whether referred matters constitute a contravention of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (WIRC Act) by injured workers, employers, and service or health providers.
The Investigation Officer makes decisions as to whether triaged matters will progress to an Investigation or be referred to WorkSafe Agents or other areas within WorkSafe.
Key accountabilities
- Demonstrate a sound ability to understand, interpret and apply the WIRC Act together with claims manual material when assessing referred matters.
- Record allegations referred to the Scheme Integrity Investigations into the relevant databases and update and maintain all databases.
- Triage referrals with Senior Investigators and Team Leaders to determine if a referral should progress to an Investigation or be referred to WorkSafe Agents or other relevant areas within WorkSafe.
- Provide a high standard of client service when responding to both internal and external complainants.
- Schedule and coordinate investigation meetings and panels and prepare agenda items and minutes.
- Create and send investigation outcome letters to both complainants and subjects of an investigation.
- Manage investigation templates to ensure they are up to date and accessible to investigators.
- Support the Director with investigation projects, reports and administrative duties.
You are a highly organised professional, with an in-depth knowledge of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013. Your communication and stakeholder management skills are highly developed, allowing you to build trusted and collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You are an enthusiastic person who enjoys supporting others, while having the ability to work autonomously.
You also possess the following skills and experience:
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation
- Sound experience in gathering and interpreting information to inform business decisions
- Ability to identify issues and provide solutions
- Ability to support the Director with administrative duties
- Demonstrated experience in influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Ability to adhere to tight deadlines
