The Department of Health manages the Northern Territory public health system, operating as one system across 5 regions, providing the full spectrum of essential, quality health services, from health promotion to prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the life course.
Alice Springs Hospital (ASH) is public hospital servicing the Central Australia Region (CAR). The hospital is a 207-bed facility with a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit providing specialist clinical service including, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy and Pathology.
As the Executive Director of Medical Services, you are responsible for the provision of medical and clinical service at the Alice Springs Hospital, with an emphasis on Clinical Governance and achieving and maintaining the highest standards of medical care across the Central Australian Health Service. This includes fostering a positive workplace culture, providing clinical leadership and overseeing the medical education program in the Central Australian Regions (CAR). In addition, you will provide advice to the Regional Executive Director on medical, clinical and professional conduct matters, and participate in the Central Australian Region Leadership Group
To meet the challenges of this strategic role you require specialist registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA), a Fellowship with an Australasian specialist college, demonstrated experience in medical administration/management and recent experience in hospital practice in a rural and remote area medicine. Exceptional collaborative, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with demonstrated knowledge of contemporary clinical practices, strategic planning and policy development, and the ability to build organisational capability and relationships within the hospital and NT Health.

Alice Springs (or Mparntwe in Arrernte language) is the third-largest town in the Northern Territory, with a population of approximately 33,000 people. The Region has deep spiritual origins dating back more than 30,000 years, and an abundance of rich culture and history. The town is surrounded by stunning natural beauty, including the MacDonnell Ranges and the Red Centre Desert. About 450kms down the road is Uluru, a large sandstone rock formation that is a spectacular sight any time of the year.
