Laboratory and Systems Coordinator
We're seeking a technically minded Laboratory and Systems Coordinator with a passion for materials testing and a deep understanding of steel mechanical properties. Based on-site, this is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring that our products meet rigorous performance, quality, and compliance standards.
Working across InfraBuild Mesh, InfraBuild Reinforcing (IBR), and Australian Reinforcing Company (ARC), you'll be the go-to expert in mechanical testing processes—tensile strength, elongation, bend testing, and other key physical properties—supporting both production teams and compliance requirements.
You'll also play a crucial role in supporting NATA-accredited testing, interpreting results, troubleshooting non-conformances, and contributing to a strong quality culture within a high-performance operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and supervise daily mechanical testing of steel reinforcing products in accordance with national standards
- Interpret test results and report deviations, trends, and out-of-spec outcomes with technical accuracy
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab testing equipment to ensure ongoing compliance
- Provide frontline technical support to operations, particularly where product or process issues are identified
- Participate in internal audits and external compliance assessments (e.g., ISO 9001, ACRS, NATA)
- Identify and escalate non-conformances, driving corrective and preventive actions
- Support laboratory staff with training, technical guidance, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain and update laboratory documentation, SOPs, and records in accordance with quality system requirements
- Support and champion continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
You are a practical and detail-oriented technician with a solid understanding of steel properties and materials testing methods. You enjoy being on the floor, solving problems, and seeing quality outcomes firsthand.
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Technical knowledge of steel mechanical properties (e.g., tensile, yield, elongation, bend, fatigue testing)
- Prior hands-on experience in a ISO IEC 17025 (NATA accredited) or ISO9001-compliant testing environment
- Familiarity with AS/NZS 4671 and other relevant Australian Standards
- High attention to detail and the ability to interpret and communicate technical data
- Strong problem-solving skills and the initiative to investigate test failures or inconsistencies
- Excellent time management and the ability to balance routine testing with quality investigations
- Customer focused, team oriented, accountable and results driven with an energetic and positive can-do attitude
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – written and verbal to clearly articulate and document information to all levels of the business
- Current driver's licence and flexibility to travel to other sites on occasion
Below are some of our key central benefits that are available to InfraBuild employees. Other benefits may be available depending on your role or site.
- Generous parental leave: 20 weeks paid Primary Carer Leave and 3 weeks paid Partner Leave for those who have worked at the business for at least 12 months. The company also provides superannuation contributions for the Primary Carer during the period of unpaid parental leave for eligible employees (limitations apply).
