About the Role

Part-time Maximum Term, 30.4 hours / 4 days a week (approx. 3 year contract)

Location will primarily be at Wandjoo Bidi in Perth, with time also required to be spent at our office in Woodbridge.

Reporting to Manager, Housing Plus the Housing Officer is responsible for the day to day provision of tenancy and property support including inspections, maintenance coordination, record management, data entry and other housing related activities.

This role relates to tenancies within the Society's Community Housing portfolio inclusive of homelessness services.

This is a dynamic role with no two days the same. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all units are maintained in a cost-effective, safe and habitable condition to support excellence in service delivery for residents as per budget requirements.
  • Coordinating maintenance requests and supporting the implementation of scheduled and long-term maintenance programs to provide a safe and compliant environment.
  • Effectively manage rent and other receivables for the units in the portfolio.
  • Contributing to the financial viability of the Community Housing program by; timely on charging of relevant costs to residents, conducting regular reviews of property outgoings, and undertaking rent reviews for each tenancy and action outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Embracing the Housing First principles of the Supportive Landlord Model and Framework in delivering supportive tenancy management.
  • Providing current and future housing support, assistance and guidance to residents with Centrelink, Department of Housing and Works and Department of Communities paperwork to support the tenancy and the positive transition out of Wandjoo Bidi units.
  • Liaising with onsite supports and Housing First case managers to ensure a smooth transition from the property at exit.
  • Key to the success of this position is that tenants are provided with a quality customer experience, delivered in a professional manner that meets their expectations.
About You

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience working within the community housing sector and/or tenancy management services
  • An understanding of social and community housing principles and experience dealing with complex and challenging property management and tenancy issues
  • Enact values consistent with Low Barrier Model and trauma informed care approaches, with the capacity to translate this into daily work practices.
  • An understanding of the Housing First principles of the Supportive Landlord Model and Framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and liaise with specialised support services and organise/participate in multi-agency case management meetings
  • Experience and proficiency in Zavanti and SHIP or other property management databases (desired)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to implement Licence to Occupy agreements and other relevant legislative requirements, sector guidelines and policies
  • Strong written and verbal communication and data management skills
  • Experience working with people with complex needs including mental health, disability, homelessness, substance use and/or financial disadvantage – particularly within a community or residential setting
  • Working knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act 1987 is desirable
