The Motor Trade Association SA/NT is the only employer-based organisation dedicated to protecting and growing South Australian and Northern Territory's automotive retail, service and repair industry. We have over 1300 members and 80 staff across SA and NT.
In the Northern Territory there are over 300 apprentices employed in various motor vehicle trades that are working with a range of employers in the industry.
About the Position:
TheAutomotive Business Manager (NT)will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong MTA presence in the Northern Territory. This role focuses on member retention and acquisition, stakeholder engagement, and promoting automotive career pathways through school and community programs.
You will build strong relationships with members, schools, government bodies, and other stakeholders, and play a key role in promoting the value of MTA membership and services. You will also represent MTA at industry and government forums and contribute to the development of programs that support the automotive industry in the NT
About You:
Our ideal candidate will have a background in sales, marketing, business, or commerce, with a passion for the automotive industry and a desire to see it thrive. You will be enthusiastic, self-managed, and results-driven, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
You will be confident working autonomously, identifying opportunities, and delivering innovative solutions. Experience in stakeholder engagement including schools is highly desirable.
Position Responsibilities:
- Maximise MTA membership retention and acquisition through site visits, events, and service promotion.
- Build strong relationships with members, schools, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Represent MTA at industry and government forums and roundtables.
- Develop and deliver a school engagement program to promote automotive career pathways.
- Identify and assist with accessing government funding for programs and services.
- Coordinate and attend member and industry events to raise awareness of MTA services.
- Provide support and advice to members on workplace relations, WHS, and other business needs.
- Maintain accurate records and notes in CRM systems.
- Travel regionally and occasionally internationally as required.

- High level of professionalism, integrity, and customer service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet-based tools.
- Automotive industry experience or trade background.
- Experience with customer management systems (CRM).
- Experience in stakeholder engagement including schools.
- Qualifications in Mentoring or Counselling.
- Knowledge of vocational education and training pathways.
- Experience working with and mentoring youth, students, or young people.
