We are seeking to appoint a Career Practitioner who is innovative and can work independently and collaboratively across a school to make decisions and enact necessary curriculum reform. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers with an interest in student career pathways. - Provides access to relevant and timely information and networks.
To be successful in this role, a high level of knowledge about the diversity of career pathways, with an understanding of the Safety Bay SHS context in relation to local employers, community agencies, and training providers is desirable.
Therefore, we seek a Career Practitioner who will implement programs and provide resources to embed career development across learning areas. We are looking for a teacher that ideally enjoys working with students to help them imagine and connect with their post-school pathway and future career aspirations.
Examples include delivering career learning lessons (Years 7–12), developing industry partnerships, and providing resources on work capabilities and readiness. The successful applicant will facilitate Careers Expo and Industry Forums and provide crucial support to parents and educators with career pathway information. They will also lead workshops to enhance career awareness and industry experiences. The Career Practitioner will further facilitate and implement the Year 9 Career Taster program, supporting student career exploration and skill development through Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) resources and requirements. This role is designed to provide reassurance and confidence to all stakeholders.
Teachers in this specialist role should also be competent in the interpretation and analysis of system and school-based data to inform practice.
The successful applicant should hold a recognised Graduate Certificate in Career Development or be willing to complete this qualification - which will be funded by the Department. Time will be made available for successful applicants to complete the qualification, and study will be incorporated into the role in the first 12 months. If you already hold an equivalent qualification, recognition of prior learning may be possible.
